From Willow Springs to Heath
The City of Heath's history traces the area back to a settlement once called Black Hills and later Willow Springs. It took the name Heath in 1886, after John O. Heath, who arrived in 1846, and incorporated in 1959.
When Lake Ray Hubbard filled in the late 1960s it covered the old Barnes Bridge Road, and newcomers came for what the city calls the openness of rural living. Heath had 520 residents in 1970 and 4,149 by 2000.
